Every Breath Fuels the Flame Within

The average adult takes approximately 16 breaths every minute. If you calculate that with the 1,440 minutes we are given each day, that equates to around 23,040 breaths every day. That also means we are given 23,040 opportunities to live our lives.

Now, let’s dive a little deeper into this concept. Consider how many breaths it takes to speak life into others? This reminds me of an interaction I had with one young man. I happened to see him walking into a store one day and I pulled up next to him to shout his name. I remembered him telling me he had big dreams to give back to the youth in our community, so I asked if that was still a dream.

He was ecstatic that I hadn’t forgotten and we agreed to keep in touch. Over the next few months we worked out his vision with a structure and a plan to ensure “Everybody Gets a Chance.” The organization is still going strong offering speed and agility opportunities to youth who may not be able to afford the expense of personal training.

What I didn’t know though at the time was that one interaction was the spark he needed to fuel the passion and drive he had inside. It’s hard to say how his vision would have played out had it not been ignited when it did. But what I can say is it only took a few breaths that day for me to watch him come alive. His dream to invest in others and their dreams has now become a reality. Just one kind word literally changed the trajectory of his life and others.

It only takes one of your 23,040 breaths to give someone the confidence that they need. Every breath is important and every breath can fuel the flame within.
